Bharti Wal-Mart to open first Cash & carry store

Wal-Mart is opening its first Cash and Carry store in Amritsar. It will be spread over 55,000 sq. ft. of area. It will be named as Best Price Modern Wholesale. Wal-Mart is planning to open over 10-15 such stores in India in the next 7 years. 

Aditya Birla Retail looking for a PE partner

1. Aditya Birla Group is looking for a PE firm to invest in its retail venture More. Retail sector is going through an uncertain time due to high wastage in supply chain, low margin, high rental, tough competition from traditional retailers, and lack of trained manpower. Aditya Birla Group which started its retail venture in 2007, reported a net loss of Rs. 543 Crore on the sale of 1,030 Crore.
